Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church dedicated and blessed its new Redeemer Activity Center (RAC) Aug. 12 in Northwest Houston. Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, celebrated Mass at Christ the Redeemer, and dedicated and blessed the new building. The RAC completes the final phase of Christ the Redeemer’s master plan for serving the parish community. Cardinal DiNardo, along with the Rev. Sean Horrigan, pastor of Christ the Redeemer, walked from room to room sprinkling holy water in each of the rooms to bless the space.
“My heart is full of joy and gratitude at the amazing effort by so many people who have helped us reach this day,” Horrigan said. “Of course, it is the people of CtR who made it possible by first being part of our faith community that continues to grow. The RAC is a direct response to the needs of our parish community and we give thanks to God for the generosity of all who have made it possible.”
The RAC includes a gymnasium, auditorium, youth room, music and art rooms, and a S.T.R.E.A.M. (science, technology, religion, engineering, arts, math) lab. The facility provides needed space to the Christ the Redeemer campus for the parish school, youth activities and events for parishioners of all ages. Several grand opening events are scheduled throughout the fall.
