Christ the Redeemer has recognized the need for a support group to provide spiritual support and resources for cancer patients, survivors and their family members. The Cancer Connections Support Group to serves CtR parishioners and the surrounding Cypress area.
The concept for the Cancer Connections Support Group is based on the idea that open communication about the illness is critical to coping with all the feelings that arise. With appropriate professional guidance, patients and family members will be able to discuss anxieties with others who share the same burden. This sharing of ideas and feelings serves to strengthen the connection between patients and their loved ones, thereby enhancing their ability to cope with the disease while strengthening the family unit.
This group meets once a month - at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month in the Parish Office, Room 201. Speakers inform the group about issues such as nutrition, chemo, side effects, spiritual guidance and understanding lab results (to name a few). It is also a time for sharing in a warm supportive atmosphere.
Cancer Connections Support Group does not provide medical care, medical treatments, medical advice or psychotherapy.
