Note: Please do let your section leader or Bridget know if you are running late.
After the Sunday morning warmup, Bridget generally finishes 15 minutes before Mass to allow for a short break. This is the perfect opportunity to head for the bathroom, make any last-minute touch-ups to music, etc. It’s also a good time to make sure you silence your mobile phones. Dorothy generally begins the prelude anywhere between five to eight minutes before Mass starts so you should be back in your seats prior to that time. The microphones over your heads or in front of you will also be on at this time so please keep noise to a minimum.
At the conclusion of Mass and after the choir and assembly have finished the recessional hymn, Dorothy will immediately proceed into a postlude selection. During this time please remain seated and quiet until she is finished.
While it is necessary to have any and all pieces available when we rehearse on Thursday evenings, it is generally a good idea to organize your folder the night before any Mass the choir will be singing for. Place only those pieces we will be singing in order of when they will be sung in your folder and mark the pages of the hymns from your Breaking Bread hymnals and/or Choral Praise books ahead of time. This will greatly reduce the amount of “fumbling” around for music that typically occurs when someone is not prepared ahead of time.
Typically, the pieces that the choir will sing are in the following order. This list may assist you in preparing your folder for Mass.
