The Genesis ECP curriculum is a center-based curriculum following the Texas Education Agency Guidelines for Pre-Kindergarten Outcomes. Our curriculum uses art, music, books and other center activities following set thematic units throughout the year. These activities are designed to enhance the child's cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development. Children learn independently and in small groups through hands-on activities within centers. Students engage in active learning that may appear more like play than structured learning. Students benefit from center based learning instruction because it encourages independence, social interaction and multi-sensory learning while teaching problem-solving skills. Center instruction offers opportunities to move around, make choices and encourage individual responsibility.
Additionally, each class attends Music & Movement and Bible Enrichment Classes each week.

Center Activities
Center activities include opportunities in the following areas:
Dramatic Play-This center encourages imaginative play, social and cooperative interaction and self-expression.
Blocks/Building -This center enhances spatial awareness, counting, patterning, creative thinking, problem-solving, and cooperative play.Art -This center captures creative expression, encourages imagination, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, identifying color, shape, texture and patterns.
Math/Manipulatives -This center practices skills such as counting, problem-solving, number recognition, sorting, matching, shapes, more/less, puzzles, estimation, classifying, spacial relationships, and visual discrimination.
Reading/Literacy -This center works on listening skills, vocabulary, rhyming, retelling stories, story sequencing, letter and sound recognition, and encouraging a love of reading.
Fine Motor/Writing - The focus of this center is to strengthen hand muscles to encourage proper cutting technique and a solid tripod grasp.
Sensory/Science - This center engages the 5 senses through exploring textures, scooping, pouring, classifying, observing, sorting, measuring and following directions.
Circle Time - This time is an opportunity to learn socialization and listening skills, share ideas, and cooperate in a group.Music and Movement - Immerses children in an atmosphere of play, song and dance while developing large motor skills. This class nurtures a child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement.
Bible - Through engaging activities children are introduced to the goodness and love of God. They are exposed to simple prayers, Bible stories, Saints, and a church environment. This forms a foundation for future learning.
