Liturgy

“As the work of Christ liturgy is also an action of his Church. It makes the Church present and manifests her as the visible sign of the communion in Christ between God and men. It engages the faithful in the new life of the community and involves the ‘conscious, active and fruitful participation of everyone. ‘The sacred liturgy does not exhaust the entire activity of the Church’: it must be preceded by evangelization, faith and conversion. It can then produce its fruits in the lives of the faithful: new life in the Spirit, involvement in the mission the of the Church, and service to her unity.”

 
The liturgical ministries, guided by the Liturgy Department, assist with all liturgical celebrations or are devotional groups. If you are interested in volunteering and if no contact person is noted, contact Deacon Jeff Willard, director of Liturgy, at jeff.willard@ctrcc.com.

Acolytes
Acolytes are commissioned by the Archdiocese to serve the faithful in the celebration of the liturgy and in particular to assist the priest and deacon, especially in the celebration of the Mass. Anyone discerning service as an acolyte will first serve as a sacristan for at least one year and then consider being an acolyte.
 
Altar Linens
Members of the Altar Linens group meet to clean the various altar linens and altar server robes used at Mass each week. Commitment is once a month. Belinda Richardson at bel_vic@sbcglobal.net or 281-463-8150.
 
Altar Servers
This ministry provides members of the parish with a true opportunity to function as lay ministers by reverently assisting the celebrant and/or deacon during Sunday Mass and at special liturgies throughout the year.
 
Art & Environment
The goal of this team is to create an environment in the church that enhances prayer and worship according to the liturgical times and seasons, and in harmony with Church guidelines.
 
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Liturgy of the Word with Children is a worship experience that allows children to hear the scriptures in words that they understand.
 
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, or EMHC, assist the celebrant with the distribution of the Eucharist during Mass and Eucharistic celebrations as well as bring the Holy Eucharist to the sick.
 
God’s Housekeepers
Members of God’s Housekeepers meet each Monday morning to maintain the cleanliness of the church. To get involved, contact Gilberto and Martha Pena at mpena75@comcast.com or 281-373-9331.
 
Greeters/Ushers
Greeters/Ushers help build an atmosphere of hospitality within the church, and reverently provide any assistance or specific direction to those in need prior to, during and after the liturgy. This ministry is for teens and adults.
 
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God effectively, clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond.
 
Liturgy Action Ministry
The members of this ministry help with printing of formation packets, preparation of the church for weekend Masses, as well as provide assistance during Holy Week and Christmas.
 
Mass Coordinators
Mass Coordinators are the contact person for EMHC’s by Mass. They send reminders about scheduling and arrive early to their selected Mass to check in EHMC's. To become a coordinator, contact Anne Marie Brandt at annemarie.brandt@yahoo.com.
 
Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration (PEA)
Parishioners are encouraged to spend an hour each week before the real presence of Christ in adoration and prayer.
 
Rosary Group
The Rosary Group meets for a half hour every Tuesday morning after the 9 a.m. Mass to pray the Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament.
 
Sacristans
Sacristans assist, facilitate, and provide support and coordination for other liturgical ministries. In addition, they make the necessary preparations for liturgical activities.
 
Sewing Group
The Sewing Ministry creates the baptismal bibs infants receive at Mass in our parish.
