Meeting the needs of more than 6,500 families with space to worship, learn and celebrate their faith culminated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new facility at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church (CtR) in Houston. The Redeemer Activity Center (RAC) Groundbreaking Ceremony was a great event on Sunday, May 7 on the West Field behind CtR Parish Life Center, 11507 Huffmeister Road. Many families, parishioners and friends of CtR were able to join us for the celebration!
Construction of the RAC will complete Phase III of CtR’s Master Plan for growth and expansion of the parish.
Since its launch in May 2016, Living Our Mission: Shaping Our Future Capital Campaign focuses on meeting parish needs while providing for the future with an enhanced youth suite, auditorium and gym. The spaces in the new RAC will provide opportunities for all ages to gather together and encounter Christ: A new gymnasium will provide space for teens and Christ the Redeemer Catholic School (CtRCS) students to interact – from dodgeball to basketball. The 9,000-square-foot, regulation-size gymnasium will have bleacher seating for 400 and the capacity to host more than 1,000 people for assembly functions. The gym will enable us to offer a large space for our Youth Ministry to use and for our CtR Catholic School Crusaders to have basketball and volleyball sports programs for our junior high students. It will include offices, locker rooms and a concession area.
New offices and space for large and small group meetings will help support the growing CtR Youth Ministry program with already more than 1,000 middle-school and high-school age participants.
A 500-plus seat auditorium will offer large-scale presentations and entertainment for the parish and greater community.
CtR is humbled by the financial support from the parish community – with more than $4 million donated toward construction costs – and are grateful for the ongoing community investment during this important time in the life of the parish. For details,
