The Senior Bag Project, just one of the many supported by the Ladies Auxiliary, is in it's sixth year. What the Ladies do is work with Cyrpress Assistance Ministries (CAM) home food delivery project. This project is for seniors who find it difficult to get out of their homes, most likely have no family member close enough to help, and are poor. This year CAM identified 75 seniors in need.
The Ladies started the project in August and attend their November meeting to assemble the bags. The contents include personal hygiene items, kitchen towels, pot holders,
cooking utensils, puzzle books, calendars, Christmas cookies and candies. Each member signs up to bring a certain number of one item to be placed in the bag. The Ladies work with a local grocery store who donates the bags and some fresh fruit. They also purchase a grocery gift card for each recipient with the help of the Knights of Columbus.
Along with the bags, the Ladies purchased a gift for the seniors this year - a bath sheet and hand towel. The Ladies use the money raised at their one fundraiser, which is the raffle at the KofC's Fish Fry.
