Part of our being as humans is our need for control. It seems like when we are growing up, working those first jobs, getting married and raising kids, we want to be in control. As we get older we finally realize in much later life that we don’t control much. What we learn is God is in control of every situation in our lives and we, while we work with God, are along for the ride. Many times when we are looking for happiness we are resisting God because we want to be in control.
Jesus in His final appearances to the Apostles told them He was sending His spirit to them. That happened on Pentecost. The spirit of God came upon the Apostles and they knew Jesus was with them and they were filled with so much joy, happiness and peace that they could not keep it to themselves. When we stop resisting Jesus and live His way of life, we to live in joy happiness and peace. We all have our Pentecost moments - moments when we are filled with the spirit of God leading us to happiness and peace. What was your Pentecost moment?
God doesn’t always come in grand and glorious ways in our lives. It is finding God in the ordinariness of life and in prayer that we find happiness.
Everything can be transformed into prayer. St. Paul calls us to pray constantly. How can you turn every moment of your life into prayer?
