Dan grew up in Livonia, Mich., a suburb of Detroit. He received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., in 1995. He has both his Masters of Education (1998) and his Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership (2004) from Framingham State College in Framingham, Mass. Fluent in Portuguese, Dan has taught in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil for several years in the late 90s and early 2000s. He was the Pre-K and Elementary Principal at Pan American School of Bahia from 2003-2006. While in Brazil, Dan met his future wife, Thaisla, and they married in 2006. Coming back to the states and settling in Houston, Texas in 2006, Dan was most recently the Assistant Principal, Grades 4-8 at St. John Paul II Catholic School. He holds Texas certifications as both a Principal – Grades EC-12 and Educator – Classroom Teacher, Generalist Grades 4-8. He has also served on the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) Accrediting Team in 2014 and 2016.
