Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church is excited to announce its next step in the journey toward creating a more heavenly liturgy. The CtR Pipe Organ Project will allow parishioners to directly engage in bringing a pipe organ, which is uniquely suited for leading large assemblies, in singing the acclamations, hymns, and Psalms at Mass in a way we never have before.
Just like the human voice produces sound with breath, pipe organs produce sound with flowing air. Currently, CtR has an electronic instrument that is showing increasing deterioration - to the organists and in the sound quality. Singing as a congregation is one of the most important ways we carry out the Church’s call to “full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations,” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, no. 14) and a pipe organ at Christ the Redeemer will allow authentic musical sounds to flow through our congregation as we glorify God through the sacred beauty of our celebration and church space.
See below how you can contribute to the Christ the Redeemer Pipe Organ Project.
“In the Latin Church the pipe organ is to be held in high esteem, for it is the traditional musical instrument that adds a wonderful splendor to the church’s ceremonies and powerfully lifts up the spirit to God and to higher things,” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, no. 120).
