Click to find out the answer to the question, "Why Be a Catechist?"
As active and praticing Catholics, catechists share their faith and wisdom with the children of CtR. By using texts and materials provided by well known Catholic publishers, catechists lead our younger seekers with the help of additional resources provided by the R.E. staff. Volunteering as a catechist is not just teaching the children of CtR, but also witnessing to and sharing personal faith experiences. Each catechist teaches one class per week with the help of a co-catechist and/or an aide.
For the class schedule for 2016-17, see the R.E. calendar
. Formation and training is offered on an ongoing basis for new and seasoned catechists. If you feel called to this ministry, contact Director of R.E. Kathy Kelley,

It is the goal for every catechist to be properly prepared and to be actively working on obtaining a certificate as a catechist in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. At this time the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is revising the process for obtaining a certificate. This includes revision of several of the modules. Full details will be provided once the revision is complete.
