It is the desire of every parent to see their children grow to be fulfilled, happy and successful in life. True fulfillment, happiness and success are firmly rooted in discovering and embracing God's will. The greatest gift a parent can offer is encouragement and support for this journey.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church recognizes the vital role of parents in vocation promotion. It says, "Parents have the mission of teaching their children to pray and to discover their vocation as children of God," (CCC, 2226) and "they should encourage them in the vocation which is proper to each child, fostering with special care any religious vocation," (CCC, 1656)
While each child and family is unique, many experience common questions and concerns regarding vocations, particularly those of priesthood and consecrated life. It is our hope that the materials offered here will assist you in your privileged role as parents.

Parents' Prayer for Vocations
Dear Heavenly Father, You have blessed us with children.
We sometimes forget that they are not ours but Yours, and
that You have asked us to bring them up in Your ways.
O gracious and loving God, we pray
that our children will discover
and respond enthusiastically to Your desire for them,
whether it be to the vocation of single, married, ordained or religious life.
Please help our children to have open he
arts and minds to hear Your call.
Help us to support and encourage our children
to seek Your will in choosing a vocation.
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus through the power and grace of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
